8-bit Characters


"8-bit charcters" are so-named because they are not part of the normal character set, which uses 7 bits to denote each 'standard' character. There are many 8-bit characters; one must refer to HTML standards to see them all.

Following are examples of 8-BIT CHARACTERS:
